Cannot be overstated how much better and more interesting Pyun’s cut is. A much more somber, atmospheric and meditative film. Red Skull, in particular, is so much better served by this cut. A genuinely moving arc! Matt Salinger is much better served by this cut, as well. He’s still not great but working the past and present around each other gives him more personality. You definitely understand why they cast him. Some shots where he’s a dead ringer for Steve Rogers, as drawn by Howard Chaykin. So much on this movie’s mind, too: Disaffected yuppies as henchmen, far more anti-war than most modern blockbusters, a president willing to tank the economy to save the environment. It’s kind of remarkable.

One of my favorite Marvel movies. So grateful to have seen this cut in theaters. Love ya forever, Albert.
