A lot to love here. The 16mm photography really accentuates the sun-drenched Florida atmosphere and goes a long way to sustain a confusion of time and place. I don’t know about you, but when the sun’s beating down on my neck and the humidity is making me feel like I’m being boiled alive, my cognition gets a little dicey and the irritation kicks in. I’ve seen so few films really take advantage of that headspace to create an elliptical narrative; it’s such a smart conceit. I don’t know how successful it all is, but I was locked in from minute one.
