I’ve apparently spent my whole life having no idea what the hell this movie was about, I guess.  I always assumed, I think, that it was this movie about a multi-generational family of women where, like, Kathy Bates was the brassy matriarch or something? A completely false memory invented by me for no reason. Had no idea that was her role!

The last thing I expected it to be was this delightful story about two lesbians in 1930s Alabama just gettin through it. This is incredible? Wow. Some of it, of course, does not age well even a little bit but I’m also just taken aback by how much I was into this. Love a small town of outcasts leaning on each other. Always gonna get me. 

Mary Stuart Masterson is so cool, man.
